How to use the Media Analysis?

What is required to use the Media Analysis?

The Media Analysis feature requires the Agency to have the CIP Portal Storage!
The Storage service provides cloud storage in a secure way that lets each agency store practically limitless amounts of data.

What is Media Analysis?

The Media Analysis tool has the ability to show the user different Insights where the user can filter for the Information they need. They also have the option to see the Timeline which is where the Transcription is located.

Users are able to send Video and Audio files to be transcript by the CIP Portal Media Analysis tool.

What are the limitations to use the Media Analysis?

  • Medias are limited to 30Gb file size
  • Medias are limited to a duration of 6h
  • Media will transcribe up to 50,000 words. Once the limit has been reached, no additional results will be generated.
  • It is important to understand it is not a limitation from STAC itself but from the Azure AI tool from Microsoft that is used to complete the analysis.
  • Media will be transcribed to the best of the AI’s ability. However, if there are multiple languages being spoken within the video, the AI may not be able to translate the non-English language.

How to use the Media Analysis?

The user is able to select the Video or Audio file they need and go to: Image Tab > Select files > Right click menu > CIP Portal Media Services > Send Media for Analysis

The video MUST be in the CIP Portal storage before it can be analyzed. If a video or audio file is not in the storage, then at the time the user selects Send Media for Analysis, STAC will first add the file to the storage before it is sent for analysis.
Once the files are sent, the process may take several minutes to upload a video to the portal and then also for the analysis to be complete. The user should refresh the screen to check the status of the analysis in the Image Log.

Once the Log says Analysis-Complete. Then, the user will be able to select the Open Media Analysis button by going to: Image Tab > Select files > Right click menu > CIP Portal Media Services > Open Media Analysis.

The Analysis tool will open the Analysis in a new Tab.

How to view transcription?

Users can view a transcription right from the Image tab in 2 ways:
1. In the Detail View: Select the file > Right click Menu > Open Preview > Timeline
2. In the Icon View: Double click on the file > Timeline

If a transcription is not available, please send the audio/video file to the Media analysis first to request the transcription Image Tab > Select files > Right click menu > CIP Portal Media Services > Send Media for Analysis
To check on the status of the file or see any related error message, go to: Searches > CIP Portal Status Search > Portal Type=Media Analysis
