How to use the Investigation module?

What is the Investigation module?

Attorneys can go to the Investigation module and request an investigation to be done as part of a case.

The Chief Investigator/Manager will get the Investigation request in their My Investigation screen and that is where the chief can see all current and past investigations, see the status of investigations, assign Investigators, and close investigations.

The Investigator can then add their events and information to the Investigation tab or the My Investigation screen in the My STAC menu.

How to use

How to create an Investigation?

If an Attorney would like to request an investigation, all they need to do is:
1. Go to the Investigation tab
2. Select Add
3. Fill out the Investigation Type and other important information required for the Investigation
4. Save
5. Right click on the Investigation to assign it to the correct Investigator

AlertSTAC should ONLY allow to assign investigations to a user who is a Manager in the investigation type of the investigation record. The user must also be related to an Active user.
Users are able to add Events associated to the Investigation using the right click menu from the Investigation tab or the My Investigation screen in the My STAC menu.

The relationships on the case such as the Attorney can get notified via email based on the configurations set by the administrator to be notified of new events added to the Investigation.

If the Attorney is not set to receive emails regarding the investigation they would need to come back to the Investigation Tab and they would be able to see the status of their investigation and add Events to communicate with the Investigator.

How to use My Investigation?

Once the Attorney adds an investigation request. The Investigation request will populate on the My Investigation screen in the My STAC menu of the Investigator that was assigned. The My Investigation will show all the open investigations that the user is current assignee.

From this screen, the Investigator can add new Investigation Events. In a future release, the Investigator will be able to complete an Investigation from this screen but as of RC3 this function is not available yet.

How to edit Investigation Events?

Once an Investigation is added to the Investigation, it can be viewed in the Detail section to the right of the screen.

Users are able to use the down arrow to view the details of the Investigation Event and are also able to select the pencil icon to edit the Investigation Event information.
The Investigation Event date and Event Type cannot be modified. The user can only update the hours and the comment field.

To delete an Investigation Event, right click on the Event and chose the option to Delete Event.

How to update the status of an Investigation?

To update the status of an Investigation, add a new Investigation Event. The Status is based on the last Investigation Event added to the Investigation.
Alert
The Status of an Investigation Event cannot be updated once it is saved.

Is the Investigation module complete?

No, as of version RC-3 the Investigation module was brought to STAC 3 but it is still pending certain functionalities.

Currently, users are able to add/edit/delete Investigations, Assign the Investigator, add/edit/delete Investigation Events.

In a future release we will bring the ability to Complete and close Investigations.
