How does STAC track changes made to charges?
STAC uses a unique structure to store all these elements from the charges. STAC tracks virtually all charge modifications by storing multiple sequences. Regardless of how many amendments are made, STAC will track every single sequence of charges.
The original sequence of charges will be identified by a sequence id of 0.
When working with charges, users can assign the codefendant being charged, the victim, and input specific information about that charge using variables created by each agency. For example, the system administrator can create a variable to capture the property that was stolen or a variable to capture how much money was stolen providing agencies the ability to track all the details of every single case.
There are several ways to add and update charges. After the case is created, users can use the Charge Tab and Charge maintenance to update charges.
Users are able to edit the Charge Merge Variable values, and the Victims related to a charge without creating a new charge sequence. This information can be modified directly in the Charge Tab. There is a Log on the charge tab, and any change made in the tab that does not create a new Charge Sequence will be recorded in that Log.
