How to update Case and Clerk Number?
How to update a Case Number?
Many circuits have felony cases that downgrade to a misdemeanor, and that causes the Case or Clerk number to change.
When that happens, STAC will always retrieve the case regardless of if the search is for the felony or the misdemeanor number. Both the Change Case Number and Change Clerk Number Wizards will record the previous numbers of a case to allow cases to easily be found.
To change a Case Number, go to: Right click menu on Case list > More > Change > Change Case Number
The screen below allows users to change the Case number values and Case Type information.
Users should also use the Change Case Number option to update or modify the Defendant letter
Then, users will see a confirmation message to make sure the information is correct before saving their changes.
How to update Clerk Number?
Users can not change or remove the Clerk Number if the configuration Clerk equals Case No in the Case Type code table is set. The Administrator will need to unselect the Clerk equals case no if they would like to allow their users to change/update the Clerk Number.
To change a Clerk Number, go to: Right click menu on Case list > More > Change > Change Clerk Number
To remove a Clerk Number, go to: Right click menu on Case list > More > Change > Remove Clerk Number
The Remove Clerk Number option will only be visible in the menu, if the case selected has a Clerk Number Defined
The screen below allows users to add/update the Clerk Type, Clerk Year, and Clerk Numeric Portion.
Then, users will see a confirmation message to make sure the information is correct before saving their changes.
