Upcoming Technical Requirements for STAC 3: Migration to ASP.NET Core Runtime 10.x

To ensure STAC 3 continues to deliver peak performance and leverages the latest security enhancements, we are reaching out to inform you of an upcoming infrastructure requirement for our future release.

What is Changing?

Starting with the release of version RC-7 (schedule to July 17th), STAC 3 will officially require the ASP.NET Core Runtime 10.x.x to be installed on your IIS Server.

Key Action Items

To ensure a seamless transition and avoid any service interruptions, please coordinate with your IT or infrastructure teams to prepare for the following:
  1. Install ASP.NET Core Runtime 10.x.x: This will be the primary runtime for the new version.
    1. Download the ASP .NET Runtime Bundle 10.x.x from ASP .NET website.
    2. Once downloaded, execute the file. No extra configurations/settings will be necessary.
    3. It might require rebooting the server.
  2. Retain ASP.NET Core Runtime 8.x.x: It is critical that you do not remove version 8.x.x at this time. Both runtimes must coexist on the server to support the current version and ensure stability during the transition.

We are providing this advance notice to give your agency sufficient time to schedule these updates within your standard maintenance windows. This upgrade is a foundational step in our commitment to providing a modern, secure, and robust platform.
