STAC 3 Collaboration Meeting Summary 1/7/2026

STAC 3 Collaboration Meeting Summary 1/7/2026

1. Event Disposition Reason List – Known Bug

Missing Dispo Reason in Event Action

  • Issue: Disposition reason list does not appear during the event dispo action in STAC 3.
  • Context: Issue previously raised and tracked on the December 30 pending bug list.
  • Status:
    • Confirmed by CIP that this issue is included in the upcoming release scheduled for 1/16/26.
    • Expected to be resolved in the next STAC 3 release (RC-3).

2. Document Merge Font & Style Inconsistencies

Font Differences in Merged Documents

  • Issue: Font used for Count numbers (Count 1, Count 2, etc.) appears different from the charge description text when documents are merged.
  • Root Cause:
    • Caused by hidden or legacy Word styles embedded in documents.
    • Styles may have been applied unintentionally over years of edits and are now more visible in STAC 3.
  • Guidance:
    • Removing styles from documents is the recommended solution.
    • Font size alone is not the issue; styles are the primary driver of inconsistencies.
  • Migration Note: These issues are more noticeable during STAC Client → STAC Web / STAC 3 transitions.

3. Image Upload & Folder Organization in STAC 3

Folder-Specific Upload Behavior

  • User Request: Ability to choose a destination folder when adding images.
  • Clarification:
    • If a user selects a folder first, then uses Add Image or drag-and-drop, the file is added directly to that folder.
  • Enhanced Drag-and-Drop Capability:
    • STAC 3 supports dragging and dropping entire folders with subfolders.
    • Folder names and structure are preserved automatically.

4. User Queries – “Select All” Status

  • Question Raised: Whether “Select All” will be available in user queries.
  • Answer:
    • Not included in the next release.
    • Feature has been postponed to a future release.

5. Administrative Functionality Roadmap

  • Current State: Some administrative actions still require STAC 2.
  • Future Plan:
    • Additional STAC 3 admin features will begin rolling out after the next release.
    • Enhancements will be incremental and may not mirror STAC 2 exactly.

6. Testing & Integration Coordination

FDLE Test System Access

  • Test account access needed to support retrofitting work.
  • Will review and respond regarding FDLES test system sign-on.

7. Knowledge Base & End-User Communication

  • CIP Guidance:
    • Many STAC 3 enhancements already exist but require intentional communication to end users.
    • CIP relies on local administrators and leads to distribute guidance.
  • Action Discussed:
    • Share KB articles and send targeted emails highlighting features such as:
      • Folder-based uploads
      • Drag-and-drop folder functionality

8. Upcoming Release

  • Next STAC 3 Release (RC-3):
    • Scheduled for next week (1/16/26), including multiple fixes.

Questions & Answers

Q: Why doesn’t the disposition reason list appear during event disposition?
A: This is a known bug tracked since December 30 and is confirmed to be fixed in the upcoming release.

Q: Why do merged documents show inconsistent fonts?
A: The issue is caused by embedded Word styles, not font size. Removing styles from documents is recommended.

Q: Can images be added directly to a specific folder?
A: Yes. Selecting a folder first before using Add Image or drag-and-drop will place files into that folder.

Q: Can I drag and drop entire folders with subfolders?
A: Yes. STAC 3 supports drag-and-drop of full folder structures, preserving subfolders and file organization.

Q: Is “Select All” coming for user queries?
A: Not in the next release; the feature has been postponed.

Q: When will more admin features be available in STAC 3?
A: Admin enhancements will begin rolling out after the next release.

Q: Why does CIP emphasize user communication around new features?
A: Without targeted communication, users tend to continue legacy STAC 2 workflows and miss STAC 3 efficiencies
