STAC 3 Help Desk & Feature Discussion Summary

Help Desk & Ticketing System

  • Introduction: Wlad presented the new STAC 3 Help Desk site and ticketing system, replacing the old email-based process.
  • Key Features:
    • Centralized ticket submission with categories, priorities, and response expectations.
    • Ticket tracking for both individual and team views.
    • Knowledge base articles and community forums.
  • Transition & Training: Training materials are available, and additional sessions will be scheduled. 

Feature Questions & Workflow Issues

  • Directory & E-Service: Clarification that visibility of recipients/methods depends on directory category setup. Guidance provided for legal personnel categorization.
  • Worthless Check Cases: Dedicated case wizard no longer in STAC 3; agencies should use a case type with proper data entry.
  • Investigation Module: A redesigned module is planned; input from circuits will shape its functionality.
  • Request Module: Question about missing columns for Dt Completed was raised by SA15; Corrections are planned for future updates.
  • Training Practices: Agencies shared varied approaches; Wlad offered to provide tailored walkthroughs throughout STAC 3.

UI & Usability Feedback

  • Image Tab: Issues with duplicate image handling and “save & add another” focus problem noted. Logs/notifications under consideration.
  • Confirmation Messages: Current green confirmation boxes can block actions; dismissible by click, with future options being explored.
  • Address Validation & Fields: Manual validation remains in place. Requests for additional fields (e.g., email comments) acknowledged, pending further analysis but was recommended to use the Directory Notes section.

Release & Contacts

  • Release Delay: Next STAC 3 release is delayed one week to fix critical issues.
  • Contact Updates: Agencies asked to refresh lists of authorized help desk users to maintain secure access.

Bug Reporting & Prioritization

  • Agencies reminded to submit issues immediately through the Help Desk instead of waiting for meetings, to allow timely fixes.

Follow-Up Items

  • E-Service Recipient on Pending Document: Ensure pending documents displays E-service recipient information.
  • Investigation Module: Develop new module with circuit input 
  • Request Module: Add “Dt Completed” column to the grid
  • Case Wizard: Restore linking to existing incidents when creating certain case types in the Case Wizard
  • Image Tab: Users are unable to copy multiple images to a case if there is a duplicate, CIP is reviewing if there is something we can do to make this process work more efficiently. There is also an issue with the Focus after using the "Save and add another option" that is being reviewed by CIP.

Release & Help Desk

Q: When is the next STAC 3 beta update being published?
A: Next Friday (10/3/25) (pushed one week to finish testing)


Q: What’s changing about tickets and support?
A: A new Help Desk portal with Knowledge Base, Community, and Ticketing (login required). Agencies should send an authorized‑contacts list for account setup.


Directory & E‑Service

Q: In Pending Documents, where can I see the e‑service recipient like in STAC 2?
A: The E-Service recipients is located in the right click menu on the grid. However, currently it is giving an incorrect message, CIP will correct in the following version.


Q: Where is the “E‑Service Method” field in the Directory?
A: It appears when the Directory Category is set to Employee or Criminal Justice Personnel (not for Individual/Business). It is displayed as the last field on the Directory Email tab.


Q: Can address validation auto‑run on save or offer a “Save & Validate” option?
A: Under consideration. Auto‑validate isn’t forced to preserve intentionally atypical addresses.


Q: Will the cursor auto‑advance after entering the area code?
A: On the backlog for the Directory Phone control.


Q: Can we add a comment field on the Email tab?
A: Not now. It requires moving emails to a separate table to avoid breaking reports. Recommended to use the Directory Notes in the meantime.


Cases & Investigations

Q: Is there a separate Worthless Check wizard/case in STAC 3?
A: No. Open a normal case and record Worthless Check info (volume is very low across circuits).


Q: Is the Investigations module coming to STAC 3 for SA/PD use?
A: Yes. Data is preserved; screens are being redesigned with multi‑agency input.


Q: Can I link a new internal/investigative case to an existing incident during creation (like STAC 2)?
A: A streamlined link flow is planned (likely a case‑type setting with allowed target classes).


Requests Module

Q: Where did the “Completed” column go, and can we see the completion date?
A: Currently the Date Completed can be viewed on the Details section. CIP will add the Dt Completed column to the grid in the following version.


Q: Can I multi‑select requests and open the selected cases?
A: Yes, On the Request Search screen users can multi-select cases > right‑click > Open selected cases. 


Images & Documents

Q: When copying images into a case that already has some, can non‑duplicates copy while duplicates are listed instead of blocking the whole action?
A: This is under review by CIP to find the best method to show the duplicates in a log that can be referenced. 


Q: After “Save & Add Another” on Add Image, the first keystroke in Type/Subtype sometimes doesn’t register—why?
A: Likely a focus issue; ticket was created, and CIP will reproduce/fix the issue.


Q: On the Pending Docs screen, the green confirmation box briefly blocks the Close (X). Can it be dismissed faster or moved?

A: Yes. Clicking directly on the green confirmation box will dismiss it immediately, so you don’t have to wait for it to time out. 


Summary Tab

Q: Can the Preview view be the default instead of Custom?
A: The default is configured to be the user’s last view. So, if a user is on the Custom view and then leaves the page, when they return to the page the default view will be the Custom view.


Q: Can a non-administrator user select Custom view of Summary tab?
A: It is a bug that CIP is aware, the correction is coming on the next version.

Future Improvements: modular/resizable summary blocks; print/export stays the same.


Events / Notes

Q: What is the status of the issue on the Event tab that is not loading the Comment when editing for PD offices?
A: Fix is included in the upcoming release set for October 3rd.


Training & Adoption

Q: How are circuits training users on STAC 3?
A: Example: SA15 runs two office‑wide sessions per week (feature walk‑throughs and Q&A). CIP is adding in‑app walkthroughs and is constantly updating and improving the Knowledge Base.
